LONG BEACH - The streak is over, but the winning continues for the Millikan baseball team. The Rams' Moore League scoreless inning streak ended at 43 when Poly scored four runs in the second inning.  But Millikan improved to 7-0 after beating the Jackrabbits, 8-4, Friday night in a late game at Blair Field.  The win gives the Rams a three-game lead in the Moore League standings with five games to play.

Andrew Culver wasn't as sharp as he'd been in the past, but the senior right-hander went the first five innings to pick up the win, allowing two earned runs. The offensive hero was catcher Emmy Antonaras, who went 2-for-2 with a bases-loaded, two-run single that went under the left fielder's glove. Antonaras chugged all the way around the bases and scored. The senior has been an anchor behind the plate for Culver and arguably the best pitcher in the Moore League, Josh Frye. Frye went the final two innings and struck out two.

"We are very proud of not allowing a run for 43 innings, but it takes a lot of pressure off of us now, (so we can) just go out and win games and not worry about that," Antonaras said. "It's great to be where we're at right now and I am not surprised, despite starting 2-6 because I've been around these guys for four years and know what they're capable of."

Poly ace Mario Gordon lasted just the first inning and allowed five runs (three earned) on three hits, two walks and an error.  The Jackrabbits scored four runs in the second on RBI singles by Kevin Nanbara, Gordon and Nikko Santos, but were shut down over the final five innings.  Jonathan Singleton walked twice and scored twice for Millikan.
