A huge thank you to everyone who gave blood or registered with Be The Match...I heard that they collected about 25 pints and 30 registrants...that is truly awesome.
It seemed like everyone was involved in the success of the day to some extent- you all worked so hard but there are a few people who deserve special mention...
First off, thank you to Coach Glasser who bought into my vision of Opening Day three years ago and gives us plenty of leash when planning this day.
Thanks to Paul and Bridgette Flores who helped from 7am to 5pm, got the donation of the much needed coffee, made breakfast, brought the PTSA cart and did everything else we asked them to do throughout the day.
Thanks to Kathy Nyberg who was responsible for the wonderful decorations and great signage....and to the MHS Softball players led by Mackenzie McGill for all their help day of and for the great posters they made.
Thanks to Pattie McGill and company for the wonderful new Ram Wear and the great booth...I know that the apparel is a tough job and she has made it look easy getting us all geared up. She was also in charge of the Market Place and all the vendors....did you taste those apples...OMG...they were amazing!
Thanks to Will, Debbie and Greg Jones for putting on our Classic Car Show...another banner year...those car owners are just the sweetest people, quite a few of them are Millikan Alumni and they love to come back to support the school...another great testament to the 'family' atmosphere at Millikan. Jones family...you all out did yourselves...thanks so much!
Thanks to Lauri Annella and company for a very successful Chili Cook-Off....Opening Day is definately not about dieting....
Thanks to Leslie LaRoque for obtaining all those great prizes and manning the raffle tables..., and to Mary Lou Armas, Christine Thompson and Karen Thomas for putting together our baskets.
A big thank you to my husband who led the charge during the week along with a handful of volunteers to get the field spruced up AND for hooking us up with a great sound system.
A special thank you to Jerry Anderson who ordered and hung the banners on the Palo Verde Fence and has arranged for our new jackets....if you didn't see them on Saturday we will have the pictures and samples at the upcoming parent meeting.
As always I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Gina Quarnstrom who was tirelessly by my side catching everything I dropped throughout the planning of this day...I won't even pretend that things would have gone as smoothly as they did without her help. Sean & Ken Quarnstrom were also giving about 150% on Opening Day and the Days leading up to...what a special family.
Another special thank you to Stacy and Lynette Ybarra for giving their all at the end of the day when the rest of us were on our last leg....and lastly to my Alex and Emma Schall for all their help in getting us out of their before sun down.
For those of you who don't know, our announcer on Saturday was an ex Long Beach Armada player, Cole Cicatelli...our program's good friend, Janie Knowles found him for us and I for one thought he was magnificent.
I hope you all had a great day...and have a wonderful season. If anyone has suggestions for next year...please let me know.

As always Opening Day has left me with a really great feeling about our school, our program and our families. What an incredible day! We received support from our school administration, softball, water polo, cheer, ROTC, PTSA , ASB....AND we were Blessed with beautiful weather.
